DIY HEART SHIRT BECAUSE YOU ARE WORTH LOVING.

Hey Everyone!

When I think of the month of February, I think of unreal amounts of pink, red, hearts, and of course, a single girl’s most dreaded holiday.  This holiday can evoke feelings of excitement or feelings of dread.  One feeling it should never evoke is feeling that you are unworthy of love.   It is easy to get caught up in the pressure of having plans with a significant other or that if you don’t you have to spend the day alone at home watching reruns of friends.

To me, Valentines day isn’t just defined by spending the evening at an over crowded restaurant and receiving flowers, cheesy greeting cards, and chocolates.  No, for me this holiday is about reminding my close friends how much I love them and how blessed I am to have them in my life.  It is about reminding myself that I have come a long way and have a lot to be proud of.  It is about reinforcing the idea that I am So Worth Loving and I deserve to spend the evening reminding myself of that.  So here is how I plan to celebrate my Valentines’ day. With my best friend making these awesome shirts and reminding myself that I am So Worth Loving every time I wear it and every Valentines’ Day- date or no date!

Now if you are a fashion geek like me, there is a chance you have seen this trend of oversized hearts everywhere! Unfortunately, most of them cost an arm and a leg!! However, our DIY Heart shirt costs less than $10!!!

Supplies:

  •  Red Felt (or any color for that matter!)
  •  Some kind of heart pattern (I traced mine on a piece paper!)
  •  Lite Steam A Seam 2 -Double stick fusible Web (You can find this at any craft store and to save a pretty penny you can google search the store for coupons!)
  •  A shirt
  • An Iron
  • A Sewing machine (If you want to take it a step farther!)

Here’s how it works:

Trace a heart pattern onto a piece of paper and cut it out. Then trace that onto the piece of felt and cut it out. AND then trace that onto the fusible web and cut it out.

(See I told you this was cake!)

After you have traced onto the fusible web and cut it out, place the fusible web onto the felt.  Be very gentle it can tear easily, if it does tear it isn’t a big deal just be sure to fill in any empty spots with the webbing.

Then you are ready to iron.  Start by ironing the front (the felt side).  I ironed it for a good 10 minutes to be sure it was sticking.  Then I flipped the shirt inside out and ironed for another 10 minutes.  Then YOU ARE FINISHED!!! Rock your shirt and when people as you about it- remind them too that they are So Worth Loving this Valentine’s day!

**If you want, you can send your heart through the sewing machine to ensure that it will stay on!
